FRANCE - ARBOUS HONEY (CORSICA)
Description
French Arbutus Honey (Corsica) - APIDORA
Made from the nectar of the shrub common in the Corsican scrub, arbutus honey is harvested in the fall, when the flowers are in full bloom. This honey has a dark amber color, sometimes tending to red. Its pronounced taste is strongly bitter, reminiscent of chicory, with notes of red fruits and spices. This characteristic bitterness comes from the juice of arbutus flowers. A recent Spanish study demonstrated its inhibitory properties on the development of cancer cells.
